Taoyuan Municipal Nan-Shi Elementary School
Nanshi Elementary School in Pingzhen District, Taoyuan City, was officially approved for establishment on January 26, 1912, becoming the first school in Pingzhen and marking the beginning of Nanshi Elementary School’s century-long history. Over the course of its hundred-year journey, from its founding during the Japanese colonial period to today’s 12-year national education system, the school has continued to flourish. Despite the severe challenges of declining birth rates in Taiwan, the combined efforts of the school’s administration and teaching team, along with strong support from the local community, have ensured that student enrollment at Nanshi Elementary School has remained stable. The school currently has 64 classes with a total of approximately 1,878 students.

Our school is located halfway up Manabang Mountain in Dahu Township, 450 meters above sea level. Most of the student families use strawberries as a cash crop. Strawberries are not only the livelihood of the student families, but also a local specialty of their hometown. Strawberry = Dahu = The conceptual connection with my hometown is very strong, so our school plans a special school-based curriculum based on “It’s good to have berries” to horizontally connect strawberry-related courses.
